Balshiksha

Its that time of the year again! Next fall Bal Shiksha will grow with the needs of the community. We have come up with classes that are more age specific and with a more organized curriculum inspired by the Balvihar classes of the Chinmaya Mission. Bal Shiksha classes will resume on September 12th 2004, Suggested donation for Bal Shiksha I, II, and III to cover for craft supplies and other miscellaneous expenses is $25/child/year and $20 for each additional child from the same family. The suggested donation for Bal Shiksha Early Start will be $15.00 per child.

Bal Shiksha Early Start:
'This 45-minute session focusses on familiarizing the 3-5 year olds with names of Hindu dieties, some basic mantra chanting, and inspirational/fun stories of Hindu gods and godesses. Each class concludes with an art project (mostly coloring) and a prayer'.

Bal Shiksha I: 
This class will cover Symbolism In Hinduism and Legendary Indian Heroes like King Harishchandra , King Ashoka. Format will be the same as last year. Anita Choithani- Symbolism in Hinduism, Neeta Pubbi- Legendary Indian Heroes, Smita Lahoti- Craft project

Bal Shiksha II
In the coming year, Bal Shiksha II will focus on building a greater understanding of Hinduism through meditation, bhajans, and age appropriate art and service projects . We will also focus on moral values, stories of saints and other role modals, folk tales and hindu festivals.

Bal Shiksha III
Balshiksha III will introduce basic tenets of Hindu religion. The syllabus will include bhajans with English lyrical transliteration and introductory passages from scriptures such as Bhagavad Gita. As much as possible discussion format will be utilized with active participation of the students.
